A Fresh Start From the Brook and 'ABOUT US' as a family

So, here I am starting my 5th blog.   Such a strange endeavor since the other 4 are not at all what I would like them to be, but as with most things, there is a reason...

Brookhuff...my first blog, is coming to a close, y'all.  Not that I will take it off the web, but I will not be blogging there too much longer.  It has been so much fun to document my life thus far there.  Like the name (Brookhuff = My name "Brook" + a derivative of my maiden name "Huffman", which was originated and chosen by my dad as my first email address in 1999), my Brookhuff blog changed names every time I changed identities and discovered something new about myself, which happened a good bit for me in my 20s.  :)

Now that I am in my 30s, a new start seems fitting with an even more fitting name..."From the Brook".  Where does that come from you may ask?  Well, it's kind of an inside joke from my childhood.  I went through a spell in my teenage years where I started looking for meaning in everything.  I love a deeper meaning into something and looking for hidden coincidences (not that I believe in too many of those).  I asked my mom a lot how they came up with my name.  I marveled at baby-name books as I chose the names of my own children and sunk as much depth as I could possibly imagine into the names of my boys: Christopher Elijah, Baylor Judah, and Eastlin Zion.  And yet, my own name, "Brook" lacked all of that.  It has certain descriptions that are fitting (peaceful, submissive, enduring), but my name literally means...
Brook: (n.) "From the brook"... a natural stream or creek that dries up in the summer, a natural small stream, not man-made.  Nice.  Thanks, mom.

Maybe, just maybe, the name is more "me" than I ever knew.  This blog will be all encompassing.  And like the meaning of my name, I will simply continue to document and show you things that are "from the brook..." or from the heart of yours truly.

I don't know any exact details at this point, but I do feel life is somehow about to change for us as we enter our next stage.  An adventure is on the horizon....
Our beautiful boys have grown up strong and all gotten into a great classical school, which we love.  Their little personalities are coming out more and more each day.  Elijah has started, but they will all very soon be little journal-ers themselves, and I'm excited for you to get to know them better...

Elijah Thompson, my sweet dreamer...

Judah Thompson, my independent rock...

and Zion Thompson, my deep-thinking comedian

and of course, baby girl Meredith still has her blog...

So where will our next adventures take us?

Well, just continuing to live our crazy, wonderful life mostly.  We very much desire to get our family out in the country on some land learning to be more self-sufficient.  Homesteading or mini-farming has been a dream of ours for a really long time.  We are looking basically anywhere within driving distance of our boys school, and have taken it to the next level by looking with a real-estate agent.  I can't believe we may finally be close to making our dream a reality.  Prayerfully, that will be a part of our next season of life.
I'm looking forward to sharing it with you as we see what is in store.  Thanks for indulging me in this, what WILL be, a fresh start...
And since this is my intro page, here is a little bit more From the Brook about us...

We are the Thompson's living and loving raising 3 handsome boys in Alabama.

Right now we are living in the suburbs, but hoping to move very soon to the country.
We love our state, and all things Sweet Home Alabama especially for the beautiful outdoors and, of course, the football...Roll Tide!

I, Brook Thompson, am the Momma, and love all things peaceful and pretty, old and chippy, organized and clean, and anything else to do with making and keeping a home.  I love animals and throwing parties, and making plans, daydreaming, getting lost on country roads, and exploring the world one adventure at a time...
My boys love (and therefore I also love) camping, hunting, fishing, exercising and sports, riding tractors and 4-wheelers, on and on and on.  We just love life I guess, and oh, how I do love to document it.
